RSSs

So I was a bit stumped with thing #8- to learn all about RSS feeds and start a Bloglines newsreader account. I have to say, (horrors), I'm not a big fan. I added several of my favorite sites to my bloglines account, but found that I'd rather take the extra time and go to each site and read through them myself. I can appreciate the speediness and organization of having everything in one spot, but I don't warm to it. If I had a homepage on my home computer (which is currently afflicted with the blue screen of death), I'd probably have enjoy a newsreader much more. The one thing that has come from learning about the RSS feeds, is that I see that little orange button *everywhere* now! Including my fave: etsy.com, where I can see quickly when my favorite sellers have added items. Like these fabulous earrings from Maggie Joynt's shop..

  2. I'm in agreement with you about RSS. I don't really see the point! The few pages I look at that have feeds don't seem to update them very often and I'd just as soon go look at the page myself anyhow. Whoa, maybe we're old-fashioned internet users!

Oh, yeah, the earrings are pretty...

  3. Jonathan, I couldn't have said it better myself! I did have that thought that maybe I'm just old-fashioned... :) I guess I can see the point if you want to keep track of blogs that you won't remember, or read very often. But yeah, all in all, won't be using it.

  4. I now have visions of sitting around saying "In my day when we wanted to know what was on a web page, we went and looked at it ourselves..." I see myself with a protruding stubbly chin and no teeth, growling this from a rocking chair...
